October Book Events

October 6th @ 7:15pm

Georgia Center for the Book joins with the Georgia Perimeter College’s Writers Institute to bring two popular authors together in a special appearance.  Husband and wife, Pat Conroy and Cassandra King will be discussing their bestselling books.

Cole Auditorium @ Georgia Perimeter College – Clarkston Campus

Doors will open at 6:15pm

No reservations and no tickets required.  First come – first seated.

October 13th-16th

Atlanta Queer Literary Festival

The 4th annual AQLF will be held at many venues around Atlanta and host a variety of literary programs.  The venues are Charis Books & More, Outwrite Books, Emory Bookstore, Auburn Avenue Research Library, Decatur Library Auditorium & Meeting Room, Java Monkey, Chocolate Bar, and First Existentialist.

October 14th-November 8th

The Big Read

This Atlanta Metro campaign is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts.  For the 3rd year it is being presented by the Atlanta History Center’s Literary Center at the Margaret Mitchell House.  This year’s Big Read is all about Edgar Allan Poe and his classic tales and poems.  Highlights include the Big Read Kick-Off Party, the Keynote Lecture with Dr. Elliot Engel, and the Big Read Film Festival.

Events are free but some require reservations.

October 22nd&23rd

Georgia Literary Festival

12th annual festival will include 25 writers with some special appearances.  Activities begin on the evening of the 22nd and include a full day on the 23rd.

October 26th @ 7:15pm

Poetry Atlanta Night

Some of Atlanta’s finest poets will be together for an evening of readings.  The night’s featured poets are Colin Cheney and Ginger Murchison.
