Your Pick – Scary Films


Thanks for your responses to our scary movie query! You can still participate in the fun by filling out one of the slips by the the DVD shelf and placing it in the suggestion box.

Here are some of your favorite scary films:

Hocus Pocus (1993) – McCain Library DVD 790

This movie is both scary and funny. During the witch trials long ago, 3 witches were sentenced to die in Salem, Massachusetts and a teenage boy was turned into a talking black cat. Now it’s Halloween, and the witches are back. They have their eyes on immortal life and have turned their wrath on trick-or-treaters and it’s up to the 300-year-old cat and his new friends to stop the witches from “sucking the lives out of all the little children in Salem!”  – Recommended by Christiane Jones ’13

The Hills Have Eyes (2006) Not available at McCain

Mutant hillbillies – need I say more? This terrifying thriller is about a suburban American family is being stalked by a group of psychotic people who live in the desert, far away from civilization. “This movie has the most awesome music whenever something scary is happening.” – Recommended by Nicole ’11

Hellraiser (1987) –  Not available at McCain

In this classic horror flick, an unfaithful woman encounters the zombie of her dead lover, who is being chased by demons after he escaped from their sado-masochistic Hell. “This movies is about the devil playing mind games and manipulating you into believing in something,” – Recommended by Chelysia ’14
