Film Review: And God Created Woman

And God Created Woman – DVD 1027

In this interesting, stunning film Brigitte Bardot plays the role of Juliete Hardy. Juliete is an orphan who receives a promise from Antoine, a man she has romantic feelings for to take her away from St. Tropez. On the day that she is supposed to run away with him, he drives right past her.

Instead of going back to the orphanage, Juliete receives a marriage proposal from Michel, Antoine’s younger brother and accepts. She is wild and childish and Michel, though deeply in love with her, is too sweet to tame her. She sleeps with Antoine and Michel finally gets the courage he needs to stand up to her. This movie, unlike most, shows the uglier side of love.
