On this date in 1969 Charley Kline took the first ride on the information highway when he sent a message from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to another computer 300 miles away at Stanford University. According to an article in Nature, Kline attempted to type “login” but the system crashed after he typed “lo.”
