Book a Room at McCain Library

Do you have an upcoming group project? Need a place to study with your classmates? McCain Library has five Group Study Rooms and two Media Rooms available for reserve through LibCal. What’s LibCal? Well, I’m glad you asked!

LibCal is an online program where Agnes Scott College students, faculty, and staff may place reserves on rooms in the library. This is great during the busy study season when rooms may easily fill up! To reserve a room, visit McCain Library’s homepage. On the right side of the screen, there is a button that says Reserve a Room. This will redirect you to LibCal and show you the library’s room availability.

Once in LibCal, there are several different options to check for before reserving a room. The first is Location. If you click on Location, a drop down menu will appear with the different room options: Media Room, Group Study Room, and Flex Film/Audio Recording and One Button Studios Spaces (which are located on the Ground Floor in the CDVL).  You can view all the available room bookings from this LibCal homepage.

Under each Location, you can check the Date (2) you would like to book the room, the Specific Location (3) of the room within the library, and the availability of the room. All available rooms will be green. Red blocks mean the room is currently reserved for someone else. You can scroll through potential times using the scroll bar at the bottom of the Availability options (4).LibCal

While we love having groups study in these rooms, we do ask that all people using the rooms keep their voices at a reasonable level. To avoid any conflict, if you have not booked a room, please refrain from using it. If it isn’t booked, you can easily reserve it!

McCain Library wants all students, faculty, and staff to have as many resources available to them as possible. In each Group Study room is a whiteboard and multiple dry-erase markers to promote ultimate group work. Each Media Room has a large television, a DVD Player, a VCRs, and an HDMI cable to connect laptops to the large screen. If you have never booked a room here before or hope to plan a few group study sessions this semester, come by the library and see which room is perfect for you!
