Gillian Lee-Fong attended the Agnes Scott College Writers’ Festival in 2008 and 2019. Much of her work focuses on the history and heritage of the seventeenth-century Jamaican Maroons. Lee-Fong has drawn upon her own experiences growing up in Jamaica and her family history to write about the significance of the Maroons. Lee-Fong currently has two books, titled Abebi and Tembe, the latter of which is held by McCain Library. Lee-Fong has earned numerous awards for her books, including the Langston Hughes Award and the Robert Frost award, both in 1999.
