Summer Library Services

Dear Summer Students, Faculty and Staff,

Until we get the authorization to fully return to campus, McCain Library staff wanted to remind you of options for library resources and services available now and for your Canvas courses:

-Library staff are going into the building individually on several days of the week, so we are happy to pre-arrange a “Grab & Go” at the library’s front doors. If there is a physical book or a piece of equipment that would be useful to you, please email State the item you need and a convenient time for pick-up, and we will do our best to assist. Please wear a mask to collect the item(s) from library staff. Similarly, if a scan of a chapter of a physical book or journal article is needed, email specifics to

-The chat service on the Library’s home page is monitored by staff working from home during summer office hours: Mon.-Thurs. 8 a.m – 5:15 p.m. Outside of those hours, a web form will go to our generic email address, and one of us will respond as soon as possible.

-One on one research consultations are available via phone, Google Hangouts, or Zoom. Book an appointment with a subject specialist here.

-Ebooks, electronic journals, and research guides are plentiful. Those are linked here.

-Inter-library loan of journal articles and book chapters remains an option, although most libraries still are not lending physical books. Make requests through the library home page here.

-Due dates for most items are set for late August, but books (not equipment) can/should still be returned to the book drop in front of McCain at any time.

We wish you good health and look forward to supporting your summer research/library service needs. Thank you.

-McCain Library Staff
